Saidi  (Upper Egypt/Sa’id)

The Saidi or Stick (Cane) dance comes from upper Egypt.

These folks are known to be strong willed and sometimes hard headed. Saidi men carry their sticks proudly wherever they go, using them for walking as well as protection.

Saidi women try sometimes to impersonate the men in their dance, but also show their own identity.
