Tunisian Dervish/Zar/Spiritual:

Derwish, Aissaouiya, and Hadhra are examples of spiritual dances used in celebrations and ceremonies to heal the sick, bring on fertility and aide a family member who is in mourning.

Sometimes money that is given is donated to the poor.

Most celebrations are connected to holy people (Marabout).

Holy women (Waleeya) e.g., are Lella Fatima and Lella Zaineb. Holy men (Walee) e.g., are Sidi Abdel Kader, Sidi El Mansour and Sidi Ben Ayed, Sidi Abeed. These Marabout are deemed sacred by their tribe.
