Chaoui Berber (Algerian)
(Near the Border of Tunisia)

Girls typically dance the Abdaoui in pairs to an 8/8 rhythm with small quick steps as they make small turns moving around a pole (Bendou).

They appear to glide and dance back to back while stamping with one foot to keep time while their ankle bracelets (Khalkhal) make a tinkling sound.

Holding on to their dress between two fingers it gives the appearance of having wings as they give thanks to the Phasant (H’djilette).
